PURPOSE:To assure the coincidence of registration between the forward tip of an original document image and the tip of a copy paper even when the scanning speed of the document changes in accordance with the multiplication rate of a variable multiplication by arranging a detector for the tip of the original at a reference position within an exposure slit of the original.
