PURPOSE:To improve production efficiency of a protein based on a heterogene by adding a crosslinked starch to a culture medium as a carbon source when a recombinant microorganism in to which the heterogene is introduced is cultured. CONSTITUTION:When a physiologically active polypeptide such as interferon or growth hormone is produced by culturing a transformed microorganism obtained by introducing a gene coding the physiologically active polypeptide into a microorganism of the genus Bacillus or Escherichia, a crosslinked starch is used as a carbon source added to a culture medium. As the crosslinked starch, a starch crosslinked by reacting an unprocessed starch or processed starch such as dextrin with a crosslinking agent such as epichlorohydrin, beta,beta'- dichlorodiether or dichloroacetic acid is used. |
