<p>The composite metal and plastic post is for use on windows or doors and partic. on domestic skylights. The post comprises a plastics section (11) which clips onto a load-bearing metal section (10). Fasteners (31) securing metal fittings (25) to the metal section (10) traverse the plastics section and wedge it in place, thus, reinforcing it against torsion. The metal section (10) has intervally projecting flanges (17, 18, 19) which form grooves locating ribbed terminators of the plastic section (11), or provide for the anchorage (31) of fittings e.g. hinge plate (25). The plastics section (11) delineates a major longitudinal channel (27) which is traversed by the anchorage flange (19), and forms a narrow rectangular channel (24) which houses the plate (25). The flange (19) may terminate in a 'U' or 'O' section return (32), which is of a lesser width than the fastener.</p> |
