A separator for light fluids comprises a longitudinally elongate through-flow housing contg. perpendicular, longitudinally extending parallel plates. The plates hang from bars and may be planner or undulatory. They are arranged between inlet and outlet underflow weirs and can be moved transversely by endless chains to allow container cleaning. Used for sepg. petrol, oil, benzene from water. Device is simple and efficient. The perpendicular arrangement prevents solid deposition on the plates and maintains them uninfluenced from edge flow.
