The multi-level digital data transmission system has its binary input bits modulated into 2n states. Each bit modifies the phase and the amplitude state is defined by the preceding bit if that bit has one state, but makes no modification if it has the other state. The system comprises a modulator that includes a demultiplexer, a combining matrix to add modulated carrier waves vectorally, and a carrier wave generator producing these carriers -- of the same frequency.
