The motor-mounting is for a saw with a stepped pulley drive and is designed for moving the belt (7) onto alternative steps to change gear. The motor (9) is mounted on a base plate (15) with a sleeve(16) welded horizontally to its top edge. A bolt(11) cantilevers from the pulley-wheel support frame (1) to transverse the sleeve (16) and form the pivot. The axis of the bolt (11) is parallel to that of the drive shaft (8), and the plate (15) swings under gravity to attain a rest position abutting a stop (19). The stop (19) may be mounted on the frame (1), and may comprise an angle iron aligning perpendicular to the axis of the bolt (11). The plate (15) may include a screw jack (21, 22) which provides for adjustment relative to the stop (19).
