发明名称 Recovery of particulate crystalline product during electrolysis - using agitators to sweep product from cathodes onto conveyor
摘要 <p>Process comprises agitating the electrolyte to cause the product to separate from the cathodes. The product is collected on a conveyor and removed from the electrolytic tank through a washing zone to displace electrolyte from the product. Agitation is effected by flexible arms on each side of each cathode which oscillate about a horizontal shaft. The conveyor passes along a conduit which is inclined at about 45 degrees to the electrolytic tank. Pref. system is for prodn. of particulate crystalline Cu from cuprous chloride soln. Agitation aids control of th crystalline product size and density and the structural competence of the dendrites. The product is collected without handling or disturbing the cathodes. Dendritic growth into the anode zones is prevented thus preventing short circuiting. Operation at high current densities results in a fewer number of cells required and a reduction in cell maintenance. The washing zone displaces valuable ingredients so that they are retained in the tank.</p>
