Air heater, in particular for heating large rooms, such as halls, etc. A ventilator (4) takes up either circulating air or fresh air by suction and forces it through two adjacent chambers (18, 19), which are separated from one another only by air flaps (27), into a heating chamber (11) in which it is heated, for example by means of a burner (12), and is then discharged via an outlet piece (3) into the room to be heated. A solar power collector (13) is provided; if it can be set into operation, the chambers (18, 19) are separated from one another by closure of the air flaps (27). The air then flows through the solar power collector (13) and from there, as desired, either for further heating via the suction line (30) of the burner (12) or directly to the outlet piece (3). The various flaps (20, 21, 27, 33, 34) also permit a combined operation. <IMAGE>
