A plough has a release mechanism enabling the mould-boards to move laterally or vertically on encountering an obstacle. The movement is elastically controlled so the blade returns to its work position after clearing the obstacle. A plate (1) with balls (4) at the points of a parallelogram is normally held in abutment with plate (4) so the balls rest in sockets (5). A shaft (6) is coupled to the frame of the plough and supports the end of a linkage pivoted to an elastic element whereby plates (1, 4) normally abut. The link (11) permits increased swinging movement of the blades after link (12) has abutted the beam (7).
