Large matting for civil engineering - made by connecting strips from old tyres together with pins to form multiple units

Large sizes of matting materials are produced by taking strips which are cut from old tyres and which have holes through their ends, and stacking them together with plastic connector pins through the holes, at least part of the system of strips being arranged so that they are staggered in alternately opposite direction from their connector pins. New by-product from old tyres which can be hitherto impossible dimensions and has high mechanical strength and long service life, utilises waste products, can be used for e.g. civil engineering groundwork applications, mining, enclosure walls, partitions, anti-avalanche structures etc.
