The recreational sailing catamaran breaking down into two canoes has these canoes (10, 11) on their side forming its hulls, linked by tubular crossbeams (12, 13) fitting into sockets near the ends. Socket alignment is such that canoe centreplanes intersect below the horizontal. There are removable covers for sealing cockpits (23); crossbeam sockets, as appropriate. A mast (14) with a boom (16) is mounted on the forward crossbeam; fore (18, 18a) and back (17) stays go to securing points on the hulls. Canoe sterns are shaped to take rudders (20) in catamaran position. There is a tiller crossbar (21). The deck (22) is netting, secured to hulls crossbeam.
