The conventional fuel injector valve has an axial bore (7) for pressure metering purposes. The bore (17) starts close to the fuel injection nozzle tip to communicate with the combustion chamber and terminates outside the injector casing. The bore can either contain an electrical conductor to feed signals from a temp. or pressure responsive transducer (8) fixed to the nozzle tip to a connection, or be filled with a hydraulic fluid to transfer pressure impulses. The impulses are fed to a recorder to compare actual engines conditions with rated conditions. The combustion chamber pressures and temperatures are taken when the engine is turned at starter motor speed 600 to 800 revolutions per minute without fuel feed.
|
