PURPOSE:To effectively obtain an inulin substance having high antitumor effects by culturing a plant culture cell or transformed cell derived from Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. CONSTITUTION:A plant culture cell or transformed cell derived from Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. is cultured, the culture mixture is optionally dried and extracted with water or an aqueous solvent. The extracted solution is mixed with an organic solvent immiscible with water, allowed to stand and an inulin substance is precipitated as sediment. The sediment is dissolved in water, mixed with the organic solvent and sediment is precipitated to give a purified inulin substance. A callus or hair root derived from a tissue piece or cell of plant of Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. may be cited as the culture cell and a hair root prepared by transforming a cell of Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. by infection with a bacterium of hair root, Ri plasmid isolated from the bacterium of hair root or a transformed plasmid prepared by direct transduction of recombinant plasmid derived from the Ri plasmid to a cell of Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. may be cited as the transformed cell. |
