The cpds. are (ae azomethinimides TN=R=NT and TN=R' (where T is of formula (I): R is a dialdehyde radical linked on each side with a double bond; and R1 is a monoaldehyde radical linked with a double bond), (b) esterimides (T(CH2)2 OCO)nR" (where R" is an electron pair bond or the radical without COOH of a mono-, di-, tri- or tetracarboxylic acid, aliphatic or aromatic, halogenated or non-halogenated; and n=1-4) and (c) acetalimides TCH2CH2OCHR'" CHOCH2CH2T (where R'" is an electron pair bond, or phenylene). One or more of the cpds. is used as antiflam agents for plastic materials. Moulded plastics contain 3-20, pref. 5-15 wt.% of the cpds., as well as other usual additives. Pref. plastics are partic. polyethylene terephthalate, polytetramethylene terephthalate, as well as polycarbonates, polyurethanes, hardenable resins, and thermoplastic vinyl (co)polymers.
