The rod-shaped parts (2) alternately fall in a horizontal position to one of two antechambers of the apparatus via a wedge-shaped separating roof (11), the horizontal pivot axis (10) of which lies approximately in the falling plane of the rod-shaped parts (2). The top, bevelled edge (13) of the separating roof (11) is designed so as to slope away from its longitudinal centre towards both ends of the separating roof. In addition, this bevelled edge (13) of the separating roof has an extension (14) projecting to the top in the area of its apex lying in the longitudinal centre. With this extension (14), the separating roof (11), when it is pivoted, always acts in the area of the centre of gravity on a falling rod-shaped part (2) irrespective of any sloping position of the same, so that the part (2) is displaced parallel to itself and cannot be placed transversely to the flow of rod-shaped parts following in rapid succession. <IMAGE>
