The present invention relates to a rack-pinion type steering apparatus for a vehicle. According to the present invention, the rack-pinion type steering apparatus for a vehicle comprises: a rack bar in which a rack gear is formed; a pinion shaft in which one side is connected to a steering shaft, a pinion gear having a diameter decreasing from a middle side to the other side is formed to engage with the rack gear, and a fastening part is formed at the other end; and a support in which one side is coupled to the fastening part and the other side is coupled to a gear housing to rotationally support the pinion shaft in a direction of decreasing diameter of the pinion gear. According to the present invention, the pinion shaft moves in a direction of decreasing diameter of the pinion gear and decreases play between the rack gear and the pinion gear by fastening a nut of the support when there occurs play between the rack gear and the pinion gear. At the same time, an elastic member elastically supports the pinion shaft in an axial direction, thereby decreasing a rattling noise generated by increase in backlash by gear wear. |
