<p>Anti-skid device for use with motor vehicle tyres on icy, snow-covered or wet roads, is made of plastics-embedded serpentine-hornblends. A high- and low-temp.-resistant inorganic hygroscopic, flexible fibre which is also a heat-insulator, is woven together with steel or a plastics in any type of weave, with the proviso that the woof thread is stronger than the chain thread. The resulting fabric is bonded to a strong, abrasion-resistant, high-friction plastics and vulcanised. The prod. is made up into bands or belts with openwork profiling, and fastened, on known manner, on the running surface of vehicle tyres.</p> |
