1530950 Controlling combustion P FASCIONE 13 Dec 1976 [15 Dec 1975] 51880/76 Heading F4B Fluid fuel is burned in a combustion chamber with a mixture of recirculated exhaust gases and an oxygen containing gas, the flow rates of the recirculated exhaust and the oxygen containing gas being varied automatically in accordance with the pressure in the combustion chamber to maintain it constant. In one arrangement, Fig. 1, valves V 1 and V 2 control the recirculation and air flows to a mixing chamber CM, and a fan VE feeds combustion sustaining gas to the burner. The desired result is obtained by choice of the characteristics of the fan VE and the setting of valves V 1 and V 2 . In other embodiments, the exhaust gases are supplied by a fan to a reservoir, the pressure in which is varied in accordance with the pressure in the combustion chamber. |
