<p>1530798 Handgrip covering G B ASHTON 5 Oct 1976 [5 July 1975] 28445/75 Heading A6D A covering for a handgrip 24 comprises a strip of material 10 which is substantially parallel-sided over the major portion of its length and tapers at one end portion 12 thereof, the taper being provided by one side 14 converging towards the other side 16 at the end portion 12, the end portion 12 having a tag 18 which extends laterally from said one side 14. The thickness of the tag 18 may be less than that of the remainder of the strip 10 which may be provided with a film of adhesive (20) having a layer of material (22) covering the adhesive. The strip may be made of a chemically treated leather. In use the layer (22) is peeled off and the end portion 12 of the strip is applied to the handgrip 24, the strip is then wound helically so that the tag 18 is trapped beneath the overlying coil 26 of the strip. The covering may be used for sports equipment, such as the handles of rackets and bats, and also for handgrips for machines, motor vehicles or aircraft, such as hand brakes, steering wheels &c.</p> |
