1530601 Methods of producing mechanical impulses POLITECHNIKA WARSZAWSKA 14 Oct 1975 [30 Oct 1974] 41951/75 Heading F2S A method of producing discrete periodic mechanical impulses separated by periods of minimal vibrational disturbance comprises rotating a plurality of pairs of unbalanced masses about axes all of which are mutually parallel, the masses of each pair being identical with one another and being rotated at the same speed but in opposite directions and the respective speeds of rotation of the pairs being integral multiples of the speed of the pair rotating most slowly, the unbalanced masses being so provided that the centrifugal forces produced by the more rapidly rotating pairs of masses are no greater than the centrifugal forces produced by the more slowly rotating pairs of masses, and the centres of mass of the masses being so orientated that they are all transiently offset to the same side of their respective axes at one instant during each revolution of the most slowly rotating masses. Fig. 1 is a plot of vibration force against time for a first embodiment in which eight pairs of unbalanced masses are rotated, the unbalanced masses being so provided that the centrifugal forces produced by all the pairs of masses are equal. Fig. 2, (not shown), is a plot similar to Fig. 1, but for an embodiment in which the unbalanced masses are so provided that the ratio of the centrifugal forces produced by each pair of more rapidly rotating masses to the centrifugal forces produced by the most slowly rotating pair of masses is inversely proportional to their rotational speeds. |
