PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative-electrode active material which can offer a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is improved in charge and discharge cycle characteristics and is enhanced in reversibility of initial charge and discharge.SOLUTION: Negative-electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: a silicon solid solution including silicon and one or two or more of a metalloid element or a metal element of a third group, a metalloid element or a metal element of a fourth group (except silicon) or a nonmetal element or a metalloid element of a fifth group solutionized into the silicon. The element solutionized into the silicon is located more at grain boundaries of crystal grains than inside the crystal grains in the silicon solid solution.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
