<p>The annular rotary hopper runs on a vertical axis and handles bulk material from a discharge mechanism slewing on the axis, delivering to a stationary chute. It is mounted on the horizontal end of an arm cantilevered out from a dockside tower, to lift material from e.g. a barge. The hopper is formed by an inner sidewall and a base, both continuous and in one piece and open to the outside. The outer sidewall of the hopper is formed by an endless elastic belt (24), almost completely enclosing it and rotating with it. This bears on the periphery (18) of the base and on a ring (20) secured to the hopper frame by radial struts (21). At the level of the chute (10) the belt is deflected away from the hopper, running over rollers (27, 28), so as to form a gap in line with the chute in the hopper outer sidewall.</p> |
