PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an absolute speed meter capable of measuring absolute speed independent of environment with a simple configuration, an absolute speed measurement device, and an absolute speed measurement method.SOLUTION: An absolute speed meter includes: a light source (16); a photo detector (18); and a Mach-Zehnder interferometer having a first arm and a second arm that are optically coupled between the light source and the photo detector, and measures the absolute speed of a mobile object mounted thereon. The first and second arms include areas (12a, 12d) where light is propagated in the same direction as the direction of movement of the mobile object and areas (12b, 12c) where light is propagated in a reverse direction, respectively, each having a different propagation constant.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
