摘要 A method of forming of an HVAC system with weldless joints is disclosed. Firstly a building HVAC system is analysed to determine the required number, placement, and sizing of each Y connection in the system, to deliver a calculated amount of refrigerant to a plurality of distributed cooling units. The position of each Y connection (26) in the physical building is then established. Each required Y connection (26) is then built. Each Y connection (26) is formed from an appropriately sized Y connector hub (see figure 6) having threaded openings. Each hub connector (28, see also figures 3 & 6) has a dielectric layer (see 24, figure 3) inside and outside, a press fit first end and a threaded second end (see 20, figure 3). The threaded second end (20) is threaded into the threaded openings of the Y connector hub (see figure 6). Sections of aluminium tubing (34) are cut to connect a source of refrigerant to the Y connections (26) and to the distributed cooling units. A tubing insert (see 14, figure 10) is inserted into an end of each of the tubing sections (34), connector nuts (see 16, figure 3) are placed over each end of the tubing sections (34), and each tubing end is placed in a connector body (see figure 3) in the press fit first ends of each hub connector. The connector nuts (16) are then pressed onto each of the connector bodies to form joints between the aluminium tubing sections and the Y connectors (26). This forms a tight weldless joint without heat at each joint. The method further includes determining where sections of tubing (34) need to be connected to other sections of tubing, including where tubing diameter changes. A tubing insert (see 14, figure 10) is inserted into an end of each of the tubing sections (34), connector nuts (see 16, figure 4) are placed over each end of the tubing sections (34), and each tubing end is placed in a connector body (see figure 4) in the press fit first and second ends of each hub connector. The connector nuts (16) are then pressed onto each of the connector bodies to weldlessly join the aluminium tubing sections.
