PURPOSE:To obtain a stock material for producing an inexpensive fiber for optical transmission of low loss and having an arbitrary refractive index distribution in a radial direction and uniform compositions in circumferential and length directions by laminating the glass wherein compositions are distributed in a radial direction, in cylindrical column form.
