A storage stable compsn. which can be moulded at room temp. comprises 70-98 wt.% inorganic hollow beads of apparent density 800 pref. 200-600 g/l, particle size 1 mm pref. 3-500 mu, and pH 5-7, pref. 6-7, as a 50% aq. suspension, the beads being coated with 2-30, pref. 3-25 wt.% polyisocyanate of b.pt. >150 degrees C under 1 tonn. The initial compsn. (i.e. hollow beads and polyisocyanate mixt.) can be moulded opt. after adding water and other additives and then hardened at room temp. in the presence of atomospheric moisture and/or by heating, opt. under pressure at is not >280 degrees C. It does not contain volatile materials, peroxide or hardeners which are physiologically harmful. The mouldings have isotopic mechanical properties and are flame retardant. |
