Transparent plastic sheet is moulded or thermoformed to provide a two dimensional array of inclined triple mirrors which diverge from truncated focal points having a cumulative area corresponding to 5-30, pref. 10-20% of the overall area of the reflector. The reverse face of the sheet is coated with a reflective surface, e.g. by vacuum metallisation. Used for mfr. of vehicle rear reflectors of similar levels of visibility by direct illumination (from head lamps) or diffuse illumination (i.e. daylight). The sheets may be prefabricated in large areas and cut to size and shape as required without loss of optical integrity, unlike systems involving a remote complementary mirror.
