A system of signalling makes use of flashing fluorescent tubular lamps. The tubes (2, 3) may be U shaped with one tube overlapping the other and arranged at right angles to it. Both tubes are then enclosed in a glass cover (1). Other possible arrangements include interlocking helices, or up to six tubes arranged radially or in the form of a polygon. The lamps are connected to a common circuit which generates pulses by the periodic discharge of a capacitor and these pulses cause the lamps to flash. The circuit is so arranged that if one lamp should fail the flashing of the remaining lamps is not affected.
|
