Extract air from the room being served enters (7) a mixing chamber (4) in the centre of the unit into which fresh air also enters. Part of the air is drawn out by centrifugal fans (14) in the extract side of the unit and discharged to armosphere. The remaining part is drawn out by centrifugal fans (21) in the delivery side and returned (26) to the room. A heater battery (27) between the mixing chamber (4) and the return fans (21) is served by a thermal liquid which is heated in boilers (32) mounted at the side of the unit. A cooling battery (41) in front of the heater battery receives refrigerant from refrigerators (42) in the bottom of the unit.
