The container consists of a glass tumber(1) which is closed after filling by a membrane(6). The lid(3) is applied over a sealing ring(4) which rests upon the edge of the glass. The lid is also held onto the container by the lip which is held over the slant of the glass sides. The lid of the glass is thicker than the sides of the glass. The glass and its contents are sterilised with steam and a pressure of between 1 and 2 atmospheres so that on cooling the membrane remains flat. The membrane can withstand a temperature of 150 deg.C.
