<p>The accessory for cylists, for attachment to each pedal, ensures that the foot of the cyclist remains locked in engagement with the pedal when in motion, but enables the foot to be released easily and quickly for dismounting. It has a block with two stirrups(2), one each side, connected by a cross bar. These incorporate two curved recesses which fit around the spindle of the pedal. Against this can move a sliding plate with a similar extension(3) which also fits around the spindles. This is blocked or released by a latch arm(4) with a coil spring mounted around a hinged pin projecting each side. This is operated by foot pressure, so that the whole is freed from the spindle.</p> |
