The invention relates to a process for producing spin-oriented, undrawn, steam-treated polyhexamethyleneadipamide filaments wherein molten polyhexamethyleneadipamide is extruded through a spinneret (1), the extruded filaments are cooled, spin-finished and taken off at a speed of 1200-6000 m/min by means of a roll (7), then passed through a pipe (9), in which they are treated with steam, and finally wound up at a speed which exceeds the speed of the take-off roll by 10-30%. The use of the above-described process eliminates the need for the hitherto necessary modification of the cooling zone by laborious and time-consuming shifting of the steam pipe, in the event of a change being made to the linear density. <IMAGE>
