Torque screw test device - converts torque to linear stress and measures strain induced in elastic rod using dial gauge

A torque measuring device has a base plate on which is mounted a pillow block with two positioning flanges between which a lever (13) is held. The lever is attached to a rotating axle with projects through holes in the flanges and bears a screw head on which the torque screw may be mounted. An operating bar (16) is attached by a coupling to the other end of the lever and by a socket (19) and further coupling (18) to the base plate. A dial gauge (22) is coupled by a first holder member (23) to the upper end of the operating bar and by means of a second holder member (27) to the other end. The dial gauge indicates strain of the bar (16) under stress and hence provides an indirect measurement of applied torque.
