The railroad car truck bolster has a centrally disposed vertical rib extending between the top and bottom surface and a number of vertically arranged spaced reinforcements integral with the rib. The integral reinforcements are spaced apart a horizontal distance sufficient to cause certain fractures in the rib propagating along lines of max. shear stress at approx. 45 deg. to lines of principle stress to reach a reinforcement at a point closer to the neutral axis of the rib than the next adjacent external surface of the rib. |
