Automated installation of reinforcement in concrete beams - using W=shaped bar supports formed by relative vertical bar movement during installation

The reinforced concrete beam casting process incorporates automatic installation of the reinforcing bars and their supports. The bars (A, B, C, E, F) are arranged in two layers before being inserted into the mould (6), with bars (A, B and C) above bars (E and F). A strip of steel is automatically fed between the two layers and cut to length. Press dies (16, 17) push bars (A, B, C) downwards relative to the remaining two bars (E, F) bending the strip into a W-shaped support (10). The bars and their supports are then lowered into the mould, the two lower angles of the supports resting on the mould floor and the arms (11, 12) bearing against the walls.
