The insertion device is used for placing windings in stator or rotor slots. It has adjustable radial jaws (14) and clamping elements (13) acting on the stator or rotor assembly. The clamping elements are located inside a ring (12) and hold the stator or rotor assembly concentric with this ring. The three clamping elements are spaced 120 deg. apart. If only two clamping elements are present then they are diametrically opposite at 180 deg. spacing. The ring is free to rotate in a ring-shaped bearing frame (11). The advantage lies in being able to accommodate stators or rotors of greatly different sizes.
