Recognition and evaluation of non-standard alphanumeric characters - using photoresistive sensing of sectionalised light display and processor

A method is used for recognition and processing of alphanumeric characters (0-9) displayed on a plane surface divided into sections. The sections are designed to enable evaluation of all types of script. Usual character readers are capable of reading standardised script. Each character occupies an area contg. a fixed number of sections of the surface and is sepd. from other characters by at least one section. Each section is associated with an electrical sensor consisting of a photoresistor whose resistance varies with light intensity. The specific resistance correspond to a given character is converted into an electrical or acoustic signal which is input to a processor.
