A horizontal drum for the wet treatment of skins, hides or textile materials is divided by one or more partitions at right angles to the axis into treatment sections. The latter are subdivided by partitions parallel to the axis into treatment chambers, each with its own door for charging and discharging. The axially parallel partitions of each section are offset relative to those of the adjoining sections by an angle which depends on the number of sections and the number of chambers in each section. When discharging the chamber one-by-one, the drum motor requires only one-third of the starting torque, compared with a conventional drum, for the last movement to discharge the last chamber. Slipping of a Vee belt drive or failure of the hydraulic couplings can thus be eliminated.
|
