The field kitchen has a low level heating unit. A frying vessel is suspended from the upper plate. There is a chamber between the two. The heating gas flows through the chamber, and a pressure cooker or a circulating air cooker (10) may be inserted into it. The pressure cooker consists of a rotary pressure steamer. A gas flue (4) discharges at the back. The pressure steamer rotates about a horizontal axis, and hot gases are circulated all round it.
