发明名称 Improvements in or relating to counting and printing mechanism for use in statistical apparatus
摘要 360,911. Statistical - apparatus. THOMAS, A., 103, Headcorn Road, Thornton Heath, Surrey. July 10, 1930, Nos. 20944/30 and 7648/31. [Class 100 (iv).] Hammer-impression mechanism.-In a machine for counting and sorting perforated statistical record cards the counters are adapted to be operatively connected with printing elements for obtaining a record of the counting operation. The printing wheels 48 are normally disengaged from the counting wheels 26 and are set by swinging the wheels 26 into engagement therewith, withdrawing the holding bail 52, and then resetting the wheels 26. A roller 183, Fig. 18, is provided for feeding a paper sheet between the ink-ribbon and printing elements 48. The roller is actuated by ratchet mechanism, the pawl of which is mounted on a plate member 236 operatively connected to an arm 233 on the shaft 225. The impression hammers 185, Figs. 18 and 19, which are arranged in a row above the inkribbon are divided into banks corresponding to the sets of counting units, and each bank is actuated by a hammer raising bar 191 operated by cams 194 on a common shaft 195 operatively connected to a shaft 90 controlled by a one revolution clutch disc. The bars 191 are supported on arms 192 engaging the cams 194 and underlie the hammers 185 that are pivotally mounted at 186 on brackets 187. To each hammer is secured a lug 188 through which passes a rod 189 surrounded by springs 202, 203 and affixed to a pivot pin 190 on the bracket 187. The springs act in opposition to one another and serve to hold the hammers free of the ink ribbon. To prevent hammer action in any one bank a manually operable lever 205, Figs. 19 and 20, is provided carrying a cam 206 co-operating with a fixed portion 207 of the machine frame, a similar cam 208 at the other end of the hammer bank being connected to the lever by a rod 209. The cams are pivoted in webs 210 on the arms 192 and when the lever 205 is raised from the position shown in Fig. 20 the arms 192 are raised so that the hammers cannot reach the ink ribbon to effect an impression. To hold the lever 205 in its adjusted position a spring controlled plate 211 having a shape similar to that of the cam 206 is slidably mounted on the lever 205 and is provided with a pin 213 engaging a slot 214 in the lever to limit the relative movement. A modified form of hammer mechanism is shown in Fig. 30 wherein each hammer 355 is attached to one end of a spring member 356 provided with a projection 357 co-operating with cam elements 359 on a shaft 358. Instead of printing hammers a printing bar 360, Figs. 31 and 33, may be employed. This bar is provided with pins 362 at its ends engaging slots in a plate 364, the pins being supported by springs 365. A pin 366 on the bar supports one end of a link 367 which is pivoted at its other end to the plate 364. The bar 260 is normally held at an angle to the vertical and when moved to the latter position effects an impression.
