PURPOSE: To control distribution of a scramble impulse viewing unit payment(IPPV) program to plural descramblers by individually authenticating IPPV programs so that they are descrambled. CONSTITUTION: Cost data for program and credit data for descrambler are processed, and IPPV state data for program and authentication data for descrambler are processed. Distribution of IPPV programs to plural descramblers 20 and 21 from plural different IPPV programmers which can be individually authenticated so as to descramble respective IPPV programs is controlled. Channel controllers 14 and 15 discriminate individual IPPV programs and present descrambler messages including the cost and IPPV state data. These descrambler messages are authenticated and are presented to scramblers 30 and 31, which are operated by each IPPV program presenter, through lines 27 and 28. |
