<p>1526302 Cartons METAL BOX Ltd 16 July 1976 [1 Aug 1975] 32305/75 Heading B8P A cardboard carton of tray form has an intermediate portion 1c, 2c, which, when the volume of the carton is to be decreased, is torn along lines 9 thereby permitting a portion 1b of the body to be folded over to form a lid, the original lid 15 having been torn off along a line of perforations 16. In one form, one line of perforations 9 is torn open on each side wall and in another form both lines are torn in each wall. In another form one line 9 is torn and the other line forms a hinge and a diagonal crease is formed on the portions 2e. Extensions on the ends of the side walls may be enclosed between fold over flaps 11 on the end walls 4, tongues 12 engaging slots 13 to retain the flaps 11 in position. In another embodiment tongue and slot connections retain the side and end walls in the erect position. The sides may in another embodiment be permanently secured to extensions on the end walls there being inclined fold lines (23) Fig. 10 (not shown) to enable an empty carton to be collapsed without disjointing. When in its original, larger size, the carton may have a separate lid, or a tear-off lid as mentioned above.</p> |
