The proposed highway layout includes a wall which separates the contrary flows, and avoids the use of traffic lights by permitting right turns. The system may eliminate all traffic congestion in urban conglomerates with associated benefits in terms of fuel economy any reductions in human stress. The highways may be enclosed in rectangular section reinforced concrete subways with the top slab integrated in the urban infra-structure. The need for such a system may be demonstrated by considering present circumstances in the city of Paris where some 330,000 man hours per day are lost through traffic congestion.
