<p>There is a ram (9) the piston (15) of which is controlled by a spring (14) which presses on a disc (1) via two small plates (18). These plates are practically non-wearing and the disc (1) is fixed on the propeller shaft. Due to the non-wearing properties of the plates (18) the piston travel is almost constant for life, so avoiding the usual brake adjustment troubles normally met. The brake can be used on almost any type of vessel having an inboard engine, whether the propeller shaft is running or not. The arrangement avoids shock inseperable from dog type locking devices.</p> |
