Automatic inhibition of clock chimes e.g. at night - is adjustable and has cam driven by reduction gearing, with lever held by spring to trap chord

Inhibition mechanism for the hourly, half hourly etc. chiming of clocks during some period through twenty four hours usually at night time. the period of inhibition is adjustable by the user and may be total if required. The mechanism is based on a cam (1) which engages with one leg of a 'doe's foot ' or V shaped lever (2, 3) pivoted at its apex, the remaining leg engaging the chiming system cam (4) which is traditional Morbier mechanism. The latter cam is driven via reduction gearing from the hour wheel and total inhibition is achieved by an auxiliary lever held by a spring and engaged by a cord pulled trhough a keyhold which traps the cord in the stop position.
