The bicycle steering gear has two ball thrust bearings between the top extension of the front wheel fork and the bush in the frame. The top bearing has a lower race fixed to the bush and a component, in which the upper race is formed, screwed onto a threaded portion of the fork extension. The component (9a) has in its inner face one or more parts (18) bearing against the upper fork extension (11) in the assembled position. This part can be a flexible body of material having a high coefficient of friction, typically a toroidal joint fitting in a peripheral groove in the component internal face.
