The unit has a working cylinder (7) whose working piston (10) performs a feed stroke and then a power stroke during the advance. The side of the working piston (10) acted upon during the advance forms with a part of the working-cylinder chamber (22) a space filled with fluid. This space communicates with a cylinder chamber (13) of smaller cross-section in which a further piston (15) is arranged. The latter is connected by a rod to a coaxial transmission piston (26) in a transmission cylinder (4). The transmission piston (26) is of larger cross-section and can be acted upon pneumatically. The cylinder chamber (13) of smaller cross-section can be connected to a feed cylinder (5). The feed cylinder (5) contains a piston (20) which is larger in diameter relative to the cylinder chamber (13) and can be acted upon pneumatically. So that this unit can be constructed as a self-contained construction member with only two pneumatic connections, the feed cylinder (5) lies coaxially between the transmission cylinder (4) and the smaller cylinder chamber (13) and adjoins the latter. In the feed cylinder (5), the piston (20) is mounted in an axially displaceable manner on the rod (16). Furthermore, the piston (15) lies in an end position in the feed cylinder (5), whereby the latter (5) is connected to the smaller cylinder chamber (13). <IMAGE>
