Power driven window actuator for motor vehicle - has rack and pinion drive operable manually on power drive failure

The window panel actuator for a motor vehicle has a panel which moves along slideways and the panel is moved by a rack and pinion drive with an electric motor. The windows can be operated in the event of failure of the motor, so that the window can at least be moved into a closed position. The slide (15) has a rotating locking element (20) which connects the toothed rack (18) with the slide. This blocking element can be disconnected by a manually actuated drive (22) from the toothed rack. On continuing the manual operation of the drive the slide is actuated by the locking element (20). The manually actuated drive has an additional pinion (50) which engages with the rack.
