The structure of a heat-reflective metallised fabric, for protective clothing or rescue blankets or insulation surfaces, uses a woven or non-woven of glass, quartz, asbestos, mineral, ceramic, stone or cotton yarns or mixts., with a metallised heat-reflective surface. The reverse side of the material incorporates hollow zones formed by a non-woven which can be stripped off or removed. This non-woven uses yarns or wool of stone, mineral, glass, quartz, aluminium or clay, silicates or surfaces of natural or synthetic sponges. These hollow zones are filled with an incombustible or low-burning material, contg. water, with a fluid, viscous or jelly consistency, such as calcium carbonate, lime, water glass or alumina. These materials are held to the undersurface of the fabric or allowed to flow over it. The structure of the fabric ensures that protection is still afforded if the intensity of the heat damages the heat reflective character of the outer surface of the material.
|
