Safety release ski binding - has sole plate spring loaded on pin to slide forward and release foot on encountering forward shock

The safety release binding releases the foot of a skier on encountering a forward shock. It comprises a front C shaped plate (6), the toe entering the gap. Each side of this stop is an arm (4, 5) contacting the toe; both arms are spring loaded together. The sole plate (2) has a front recess (8, 9), held by a round-nosed pin (10) spring loaded (11) downwards, its pressure adjusted by a screw (12) in the stop plate. When the forward shock is sufficient to overcome the pressure on the side arms, the sole plate slides forward away from the fixed rear stop and the spring pin.
